Har Ki Pauri
Hari-Ki-Pauri is one of the most sacred Ghats in Haridwar and India. This is the exact spot where the river Ganges, flowing through the Himalayas, enters the plain for the first time. Here one can have the darshan of Lord Vishnu’s lotus footprint on a stone. It was constructed by King Vikramaditya in the 1st Century BC who had come to Haridwar to meditate on the banks of the Ganga. The sacred Ghat presents a captivating spectacle, adorned with numerous temples along the riverbank and the golden glow of floral diyas (ghee lamps) drifting in the water. The Ganga arti resonates through the sacred Ghat each morning and evening, creating a mesmerizing and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Sapt Rishi Ashram
Situated 6 km from Hari Ki Paudi on the riverbanks, Sapta Rishi Ashram is a well-known attraction in Haridwar. Drawing a significant number of visitors seeking tranquility for meditation and yoga, this place derives its name from the seven (Sapta) Rishis who chose it as their meditation spot. At this location, the Ganga River branches into seven streams.
Rishikesh
Rishikesh, commonly referred to as the ‘yoga capital of the world’ is situated 24 km from Haridwar at the bank of river Ganga. Rishikesh is the gateway to famous places further up in the Himalayas – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri (origin point of Ganges River) and Yamunotri (origin point of Yamuna River). Rajaji National Park
The Tiger Reserve, located 8km from Haridwar, was named in honor of the renowned freedom fighter C. Rajgopalachari, commonly known as "Rajaji." This reserve, characterized by its scenic beauty and diverse wildlife, is a major draw for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. Rajaji Tiger Reserve boasts a significant population of tigers and Asian elephants, along with various other wildlife species including leopards, jungle cats, Himalayan black bears, sloth bears, striped hyenas, gorals, sambars, wild pigs, spotted deer, barking deer, and many more. Additionally, it provides a thriving habitat for a range of reptiles such as king cobras, Burmese pythons, common kraits, and others.
